MIRROR | Beyond What We Know

<p dir="ltr"><strong>BEYOND WHAT WE KNOW</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">Monday 16 December - Thursday 19 December<br /></p> <p dir="ltr"><strong><em>Beyond What We Know</em></strong> unites the work of Paul Fieldsend-Danks and Stephen Felmingham, celebrating their contributions to artistic and educational discourse both at Arts University Plymouth and the wider national and international field. </p> <p dir="ltr">The exhibition title reflects their view of artistic practice and learning as fluid, unfixed processes and a space of ‘not knowing’.* Both artists see creation and teaching as evolving traditions, inspired by figures such as Richard Hamilton, Joseph Beuys, and Roger Ackling. </p> <p dir="ltr">Over more than 20 years, Paul and Stephen have intersected as artists and educators, sharing a dedication to contemporary drawing and the pedagogies of the Art School. </p> <p dir="ltr">The exhibition, marking the conferment of their professorships, offers a glimpse into their work, hinting perhaps at ideas beyond their shared knowledge.<br /><br /> </p> <p dir="ltr"><strong>ABOUT</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">Professor <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/paul-fieldsend-danks" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paul Fieldsend-Danks</a> is the Vice-Chancellor of Arts University Plymouth, and Professor of Fine Arts Education.</p> <p dir="ltr">Professor <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/dr-stephen-felmingham" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stephen Felmingham</a> is Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Arts University Plymouth, and Professor of Artistic Research.</p> <p><br /><br /></p> <p>—<br /></p> <p>MIRROR is a public gallery, events programme and online resource based out of and supported by Arts University Plymouth.
