Bridgette Ashton
Lecturer in BA (Hons) Illustration

Bridgette Ashton is an interdisciplinary artist and part-time lecturer on the BA (Hons) Illustration programme at Arts University Plymouth and is currently the unit leader on first and second year units. Her diverse practice encompasses sculpture, ceramics, print, drawing, and publications, with a strong focus on process and materiality, particularly the transformation of the ordinary.

Ashton’s recent research explores themes related to collectors and collections, as well as notions of the fake and artificial. Central to her approach is the importance of drawing, looking, and re-drawing, which play a crucial role in her creative process. Her work often responds to specific sites, objects, and archives, engaging with their histories, narratives, and networks. She has exhibited in both solo and group shows across galleries and museums in the UK and Europe.
