Dr Alexandra Murphy
Research and Knowledge Exchange Manager
<p dir="ltr">Alexandra has a BA(hons) in Fine Art (Birmingham City University), M.Phil Women’s Studies (Trinity College Dublin), PhD (Trinity College Dublin). </p>
<p dir="ltr">Alexandra has worked in the UK and Ireland across arts management roles including organising large scale events, managing arts organisations, and overseeing grant and funding provisions. These roles have spanned diverse organisations including grass roots non-profit organisations, local councils, and national flagship arts organisations. She was Director of Monster Truck contemporary art gallery (Dublin) and on the Board of Directors of Ludic Rooms (Coventry).</p>
<p dir="ltr">Alexandra was previously the course leader for the M.Phil in Gender and Women’s Studies at Trinity College Dublin and lectured in Feminist Theories and Visual Culture and Representation. In 2016, she was awarded an Irish Research Council Scholarship for her doctoral studies at the Trinity Irish Arts Research Centre (Trinity College Dublin). Her research engaged sociological and historical methods and examined the development of artist-run gallery spaces in Dublin. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Alexandra joined Arts University Plymouth in 2020 as Project Manager (Development) and managed the delivery of a portfolio of funded projects and Knowledge Exchange activity including ERDF, ESF, UKRI, and Innovate UK funded projects. <br /><br />Alexandra is the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Manager as part of the Office for Research and Innovation. She works alongside Business Support and Academic colleagues to: support the university’s research, innovation, and knowledge exchange agenda; support staff research ambitions; and promote staff and student engagement in these areas.</p>
