He also works as a freelance Costume Tailor/Costumier, and has worked on a range of theatre, film and TV productions, including Book of Mormon (West End), working as costume designer and Head Of Department for The Ghost Ship (film directed by Robert Young), as well as working as the Children's Tailor for brooding BBC drama Poldark (Series 2 Episode 5).

Jerry's research is based around learning tools for Costume students. For his MA he created a pattern cutting publication to guide students through the process of cutting period garments. He bases his research around making the process of understanding costume and costume learning more accessible to students.

The publication, titled ‘A Student’s Guide to Women’s Period Pattern Cutting’ is currently being reviewed by a publisher. The book is designed to present students with a basic silhouette of period costumes, which they can then adapt the patterns to their own designs using research they have collected as part of a module. The book has been designed to be accessible to students with dyslexia, with appropriate colours and fonts used throughout.
