Peter Jenkinson OBE
Independent Cultural Broker & Honorary Fellow (2015)
<p dir="ltr">Peter Jenkinson OBE is an Independent Cultural Agent and Cultural Broker with over 20 years of experience in the cultural sector. He is the founder of openº, a platform for civic imagination and renewal, and the founding director of Creative Partnerships, the first nationally-coordinated and £110 million government-funded programme designed to engender creative learning in schools.</p>
<p dir="ltr">From 2006-2011 Peter was an official advisor on the post-conflict art programme for Derry~Londonderry in Northern Ireland, and a member of the city’s successful bid team to become the first UK City of Culture in 2013. He was Chair of the International Symposium at the first Post-War Arts and Culture Festival in Northern Iraq/Kurdistan~Iraq in 2009 and Chair of the Contemporary Art Iraq Symposium at Cornerhouse Manchester in 2010. These experiences of zones of conflict and post-conflict led in 2011 to his co-founding Culture+Conflict of which he is an associate. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Peter has also worked with the British Council on its global strategy for culture and development; Channel 4 on their Big Art Project television series; Salzburg Global Senimar as advisor and facilitator on peacebuilding and innovation;and the London International Festival of Theatre as co-curator and many more artists, activists and agencies.</p>
<p dir="ltr">In 2015 Arts University Plymouth awarded an Honorary Fellowship to Peter Jenkinson OBE in recognition of his passionate advocacy and achievements in arts and culture engagements in a global context.</p>
