Textile Studios
With views out to sea and 35 metres of print tables to encourage experimentation, our Printed Textile Design Studios also boast a fantastic Mimaki fabric printer, digital embroidery resources, industrial sewing machines, sublimation printers, a dye lab, heat presses, a tufting gun and a Mac suite. It’s got to be one of the best printed textile workshops in the UK.
<p>With views out to sea and 32.5 metres of print tables to encourage experimentation, plus a superbly equipped dye laboratory and a range of state-of-the-art digital printers and scanners, our Textile Studios are fully-equipped to enable fabric and print production with immediate turnaround.</p>
<p>Students work in a professional studio environment with access to a well stocked store of textile binders and mediums, fabrics and papers, working with specialist textile pastes and equipment to achieve industry-standard results. This resource is used by a range of areas, from textile, fashion and costume to interior design, fine art and illustration.</p>
<p>The Printed Textile Design Studios also boast a fantastic Mimaki fabric printer, digital embroidery resources, industrial sewing machines, sublimation printers, a dye lab, heat presses, a tufting gun and a Mac suite. It’s got to be one of the best-printed textile workshops in the UK. </p>
<p>You’ll also have access to a large format sublimation printer and transfer press, knitting machines, embroidery machines, tufting guns and an expansive, open, light design studio, where you can transform your ideas from digital screen through to print.<br /></p>
<p>The Tufting Room is used to create carpets and rugs, a large adjustable tufting frame allows for sampling and work up to 1.5 x 3 metres. A diverse range of wools and yarns line the walls for colour and fibre inspiration.</p>
<p>Our dedicated Dye Lab is ideally suited for colouring fabrics enabling group and individual working. It houses a large dye vat for colouring fabric lengths, a wide colour/dye collection for dyeing natural and synthetic fabrics, and a growing collection of natural dyes and resources.</p>
<p>Leading off from our main Textiles Studio, the dedicated wash room has individual booths for stripping screens, exposing screens and cleaning screens, large and small.</p>
